Outside the studio #17

Here’s Pandemic Painting #16, “Outside the Studio”

I took the photo for this outside the door of the house where Andrew Wyeth kept his studio in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania and it is open for tours. Nice clump of trees, other odd bits, and one of my favorite subjects, a rusty steel barrel.
As I snapped away, one of the docents on the tour of the studio told me that when Wyeth really hated a piece of art he had done, he didn’t mess around and simply burned it in this barrel. (!!!!!!!!!!!!)
He then said, there’s no ashes, but go ahead and look. I did, musing at the millions of dollars worth of art that must’ve gone up in smoke.
Me? – I’ve got a couple of large folder’s worth of failures.

W&N watercolors on 140# Arches cold press. 9″ x 12.5″. I also worked this over with Inktense watercolor pencils.
