Pandemic Painting #20

Normally at this time of year I’m in Cross Plains, Texas, celebrating with several hundred friends at Robert E. Howard Days. 2020 has given us a world wide pandemic that has pretty much scrapped any celebrating or even what we used to consider normal living. So, no gathering of friends for our realization of Howard’s legacy; well – we’ll endure until next year.

June 11th gives those of us in Howard Fandom an ominous anniversary, as it is the date the Robert E. Howard ended his own life in 1936. While Howard’s writing career was on the rise, several other factors proved to be stronger and he left us.

Robert E. Howard’s life and work has left an impact on my life. Because I read Howard, I’ve gained friends and experiences that have helped shape who I am. His wonderful writings aside, this is the main thing that his legacy has given me.

Thanks, Ol’ Two-Gun Bob Howard. You gave more to a lot of folks than you ever could have realized.
