This piece is more of a study than a finished drawing.
I did a detailed pencil drawing of this tree that had fallen across Trail Creek here in Michigan City out by Kreuger Middle School. Kind of a Wyeth thing, where he does intense pencil studies before a painting, of which this fallen tree will eventually be.
So, I thought I’d try an ink version and it ended up looking like I was channeling some Jesse Marsh (my all time favorite comic book artist – only a few of my friends will get that…)
Anyway, I have this disposable Pentel Brush Sign Pen with small nylon brush hairs that I brought out. Drawing in ink with a brush is very fluid and can sometimes be tricky with the amount of pressure you use when pulling lines. But it gives a nifty look to it and now I’ll let you get back to your Saturday night.
