INKTOBER 2020 DAY 19

I’m finding out that morning drawing is a good thing. The b.s. of the day hasn’t sunk in, so pen work rules the day!
This scene is mostly a put-together, meaning while I had a reference photo, I radically changed the composition, re-arranged the elements and remembered a vision from being a kid in Miller.

“Back in the day”, all the kids called this “the highest hill in Miller”. I believe that it was, as it overlooked our neighborhoods and had a great view of Lake Michigan. It was a bald-faced dune topped with trees and marram grass and all those lovely weeds found in the dunes.
Anyway, I recently took a ride over by there and found a house at the base of the hill, which was pretty overgrown (duh, after 50+ years!) This big, mean-looking dog comes out, doesn’t bark – just eyeballs me with a look of ‘turn that car around, bub – you don’t want to mess with me”.
So, I snapped a couple of photos and reversed slowly outta there!

I used that Pen & Ink Sketch fountain pen from before – so much for using a different pen for each drawing. I like this one pretty much and can’t wait to paint it.
Stay well
