INKTOBER 2020 DAY 25

With the debacle of Pandemic Painting #45.5 in the rear view mirror, we’ll get back to Inktober Day 25.

I took the easy way out today with a simple line drawing of a woman who you can pretty much tell what her occupation is. I did this drawing (MICRON PN and Pentel STYLO) from a painting that I did way back in 1977, IIRC.
I had found the photo reference in a magazine somewhere and it made for a pretty good painting, of which I can tell the following story.

In the later 70’s, I did a number of art fairs when I displayed my paintings for sale. In truth, I never sold gangbusters, because my subject matter was always a little different and I paint to amuse myself anyway.
So, this painting was on my display and a fellow comes along and says something to the effect ‘Oh wow that’s incredible I want to buy it’. Cool. ‘But I’m going to look at the rest of the show, but I’ll be back’. If I had a dime for every time I had heard that, well…(with apologies to Mel Brooks) I’d have a shitload of dimes.
In the meantime, after this fellow wandered off, another dude walks up and goes ‘Here take my money for that painting of that woman’.
As he vanished into the crowd, happy with his purchase, you can guess what happened. Yep, First Fellow comes back and goes ‘Where’s my painting?’ Not yours any more, bub.
The moral: When you see something you like, buy it.

Happy day and good health to you all.
