Another scene from good ol’ Marquette Park in Miller. While some things have changed here at the park (baseball field and tennis courts are overgrown, the piers at the Lagoon have changed, the parking lots are all a mess) – the beach never changes.
Well, it IS constantly being reshaped, of course, by pounding waves and endless winds. But it’s those two factors that make each painting I do of the dunes special to me. I try and capture those winds and shifting sands – that has gotten more important to me the older an artist I am becoming.
I’m grateful for each day I can do these – looks like I’m going to be Artist-in-Residence for a while now.
I did okay on this 10.5″ x 14.5″ rendition, using Winsor & Newton watercolors on 300# Arches cold press paper
