I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Bill Russell. “Big Russ” was one of my personal heroes, not only for his basketball skills, but for always being a man of strong convictions and personal strengths. That he shared all of those qualities with us all made us better people.
One of the few paintings I’ve ever done with no chance of selling or giving away was of Bill Russell. I did this one in 1975 (!) when I was signing my work with “GW Cavalier”. It has hung on a wall of every place I’ve lived since then.
Rest in Peace, Big Russ – you had an impact on my life.
