OK, I’m back on track and making line art. I took a ride to my hometown today (Gary, Indiana – specifically Miller Beach at Marquette Park) in hopes of seeing some monarchs among the milkweed. (Monarchs Among the Milkweeds is the title of my new album).
No such luck, but I took a bunch of dunes reference photos and walked down to the beach on a crystal clear 86 degree day. Is this October 3rd?
Anyway, I sat at a picnic table under a canopy shelter and did this sketch. This stone structure is supposed to be a gateway or something, but it has no identification near it, so we’ll just call it a Gateway to Paradise, because that’s what it seems to be to me. It does sit at the very southernmost point of Lake Michigan, so maybe that’s it.
All of these sketches are small. This one is 4.25″ x 7.5″, done with a .05 Micron on Strathmore Mixed Media paper
