The Michigan City Art League meets every Thursday night here in town for a 12 week session in the fall and spring. It’s a gathering of a group of artists of all ability levels and we come together every week for a myriad of experiences in making art. We offer different classes and teachers every week or two (some sessions are two weeks) and that’s what keeps everyone interested and able to learn new art stuff. Acrylics, oil, watercolors, pencil & charcoal drawing, pen & ink, alcohol ink, various print-making techniques, some craft projects – it’s a great mix of fun lessons, all taught in a friendly and relaxed – but artistic – atmosphere.
Anyway, this long preamble comes back to me (of course, this is MY Facebook page!) Every now and then, a scheduled instructor has to bail at the last minute on a class. Stuff happens!
Well, guess who is lucky enough to be the Emergency Instructor? Yeah, that’d be me – and I’m always happy to do it. I get to do a small bit of teaching & demonstrating and then set my Art League friends to the pleasures of making art.
I got to do so last night and just had so much fun – and I finally got a decent demonstration painting for my efforts.
So, thanks to the Michigan City Art League for the opportunity to share my talent and to enjoy theirs. And don’t forget: PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!
