I suppose it’s time to start Halloweenie-ing it up a bit here, so here’s one of my favorite monsters, The Phantom of the Opera, as depicted by Lon Chaney.
As I was working on this with a Pentel Sign Pen (SES15C) I realized that this particular pen has been around since the 1960’s. The “Pentel Sign Pen” then had a fiber tip (and this iteration has a plastic tip) but they are basically the same pen.
I know this because my first real job in the display department at H. Gordon & Sons department store in Gary, Indiana in 1967 enabled me to learn about brush lettering. Larger signs were done with a brush, but smaller price-tag signs were done with a Pentel Sign Pen.
Whoa, quite the trip down memory lane there! Hope you’ll have some good ones, too!
