Finally, here’s Pandemic Painting #28.
Here’s a painting I’ve had in pencil form for quite awhile. I just couldn’t seem to “get to it” and the reasons became evident as I began painting it. I used a photo I took over in Beverly Shores a while back and while I like the scene, it just wasn’t calling to me to be painted. I guess that’s the best way I can describe it.
But I gave it a go – I’m satisfied just enough to post it here. While it is not a candidate for Andrew Wyeth’s Burn Barrel, I’m just not real happy with it. It’s overworked for one and when I tried a little gouache color on top it just didn’t come together for me. I did my trick on a marginal painting of trying to wreck it just to save it – and I barely made it.
Not every one is a homer; in my baseball parlance, on this one I reached base on an out call that was overturned by New York.
Too much philosophizzin’ here – hope you all are staying safe and smart.
