All right – it’s close enough to Tuesday to post this Pandemic Painting #103. as Tuesday is the day this cover is on The Beacher, our little hometown features magazine here in Michigan City.
I’ve been lucky enough to do 3 covers for holiday issues this year. My instructions on what to do are usually one or two words; for this one, it was “Santa”.
Having long been a devote of Will Elder, one of the original cartoonists for MAD Magazine, I’ve come to enjoy putting little non-sequiturs and sight gags in a lot of my cartoon work. Christmas is no exception!
Here is Santa with a list of all the fine folk who contribute to the making of The Beacher. The elves are trying to get Santa into the 21st Century but he’s Old School all the way, baby!
Just like me (the Old School part) – this piece was hand drawn with pencils, Micron pens, Winsor & Newton watercolor and gouache on heavy 11″ x 14″ Strathmore Bristol board.
If I don’t catch you before, have a Merry Christmas!
