I did this one from both an on-site sketch and a photo. A lot of the detail on the barn was done with graphite, both over-painting the pencil drawing and then adding more pencil after the watercolor process.
Done on a heavy 5-ply vellum Bristol paper, which was my go-to surface when I started painting 46 years ago. I found a small stash in an old folder. Everything still works!
Not every painting is a home run – this one will serve as a “learner”, I think. I’ll be breaking away from old barns for now, I do believe.
Hope y’all are safe and healthy.
