As the blue funk from No Howard Days fades, here we go with some more blues in the form of Pandemic Painting #21.
I did this painting from a black and white photo run in the Chicago Tribune a couple of years ago, yanked from the Chicago History Museum and credited to Raeburn Flerlage.
The caption reads: “Otis Spann, left, and James Cotten rehearse in Muddy Waters’ basement in Chicago, circa February 1965.” Man, how’d you like to be a fly on the wall there?
While the photo looks great as a black and white, I decided to do a little experimenting with a more illustration style piece here. I’m calling it “Sunday Night Blues” and I gotta tell you, I like this one very much.
