Pandemic Painting #101

I’m trying to think of a suitable excuse for the delay in showing you Pandemic Painting #101; when I’ve got one I’ll let you know!

Actually, working on the Christmas cover for The Beacher kept me busy for a bit. And then I’m re-discovering my enjoyment at drawing with a pocket-knife sharpened pencil right now, so my painting slipped a little! But I’m back at it now!

Pencil drawing is actually a big part of my watercolor painting process any more. I usually do a detailed pencil drawing of what I want to paint, then enlarge it and transfer it onto my w.c. paper with a light box. A drawing is *usually* the basis for my painting.

#101 here was done from a photo I took over at the West Beach section of the Indiana Dunes National Park. I hiked these dunes as a kid and they have a special place in my heart.

For all you nut & bolters: Winsor & Newton watercolours, Arches 300# cold press paper, 2B lead in my 30-year old Pentel .07 mechanical pencil and various Princeton brushes.

Hope you are all doing ok. I still have some calendars available, so PM me if you’re interested. I could be talked into selling some originals, too, if you’re looking for last minute presents. PM me
