Pandemic Painting #156. Challenge #20.
Wow, 20 in a row with the July Watercolor Challenge. When I started, I figured there would be some days where I’d do just a 20 minute crank-it-out, but that hasn’t been the case.
As I was detailing this one, I had to stop to move on to other matters or I would spend another hour on the fine lines on everything here.
I’ve done this barn side before and I just love the weathered, textured wood. I used my 35 year old .07 Pentel mechanical pencil with 2B graphite in it to add a lot of the lines here. Some of the weathered look was accomplished by turning the brush sideways and dragging it across the paper, a technique I also use for waves.
Had some fun with this, using Sennelier watercolors on Arches 140# hot press paper; I even used a Sennelier brush at one point for fine lines. 5.5″ x 10″: I’m kinda liking these smaller pieces!
