June 12

Robert E. Howard died on June 11th, 1936. On this 87th anniversary of his passing, I prefer to think of what Bob left us, rather than how he left us.

That Ol’ Two-Gun gave us nearly three million words hammered out on a beast of an Underwood No. 5 typewriter is one thing, but the fact that we’re still talking about him 87 years later is quite another!
And we’re not just talking (although the internet certainly facilitates that) – we’re reading and re-reading his words again and again. New fans of REH are bursting forth every day from what I see here on the numerous REH-related FB pages! And we’re continuing to discuss the words that he left us, because for those of us who are here and on every REH website or Facebook page, it is an important endeavor in our lives.

We continue to honor the Legacy of the incomparable Robert E. Howard by making him and his words factors that we enjoy and care about. And we relate and form friendships and find fellowship over Bob Howard’s words. The crafty Texan has grabbed ahold of us and said, “Hey, I’ve got something to show you…”

So raise a glass and read Robert E. Howard. Thanks for all the words, Bob!
