OK, it’s time to get back to having some fun and do some painting.
I read this on the intra-webs, so it must be true: July is Watercolor Month. There are several art supply dealers out there who are proposing challenges and prizes for watercolors done in July as some sort of promotion (for you to buy their stuff, of course!)
But hey, I’m looking for a project that will get me going again, so I’ve picked Watercolor Month: One Painting a Day in July – or I just made that up to light the fire.
Anyway, I’ve got a sketchbook filled with pencil drawings of landscapes, so I’m going to pick a drawing a day from that book for inspiration. Or, if I see something else I’d want to paint, I’ll do that. Or, if I want to do a plein air painting, I’ll do that. Or, if I do an ink sketch and watercolor over the top of that, I’ll do that. Or, if I want to go big or small, I’ll do that. I’ll probably experiment with techniques, brushes, paint and paper, too.
Hmmm, I’m detecting a rather chaotic theme.
I’m just going to have some fun making art.
This one is a familiar theme, 6.75″ x 10.5, done on Arches 140# cold press paper with Winsor & Newton watercolours. (Gonna be hard to give up on that combo.) Time involved: about 90 minutes.
