Well, I pretty much got this to where I wanted, so here it is.
Cheryl provided me with the photo for this one.
I used the good version of my Strathmore 5-ply Bristol board, with a nice smooth surface that really let me add the small details. I have to work quickly when starting out, as paint dries quickly on the hard, slightly toothy board. The sky was done in a washy pass that dried exactly how I wanted it to. Lucked out on that.
Another day spent inside due to heat and Canadian smoke.
