Pandemic Painting #166, Challenge #30

Pandemic Painting #166, Challenge #30.

Well, I had to work in a Monarch at some point, so here is one slurping some goldenrod.
This piece was a lot of quick strokes freely undertaken and then honing in on a beautiful butterfly. There’s something about the intensity of the orange and black of a monarch that just dominates a painting. I enjoy the chance to make the detail just sharp as a knife.
It’s Saturday night, so enjoy an un-sharp evening if you like.

Sennelier makes a really nice orange that I used here and a Micron .05 pen made for the detail around the orange. All on 140# Arches cold press paper at 6.75″ x 10.25″
