Well, all right.
I’m having a showing of my paintings in the gallery at the Queen of All Saints Legacy Center starting next month
I’ll be hanging them next week and the showing will go on during July, August and September.
There will be an Artist’s Reception on Sunday July 7 from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. at the Legacy Center., 1719 E. Barker Ave., Michigan City, IN 46360.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had a gallery showing, so this is pretty cool.

The Legacy Center Gallery is proud to host the artwork of Bill Cavalier in their next installation. Located at 1719 E. Barker Avenue in Michigan City, Indiana on the campus of Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Michigan City, the Legacy Center serves as a multi-use gathering space for community and parish functions. The Gallery seeks to incorporate the parish with the greater arts community.
Bill Cavalier has been an artist for as long as he can remember. He never wanted to be anything
else. As a young boy, he was fascinated by the cartoons of comic books and newspaper comic
strips, so cartooning was his first entry into the world of art. He still draws a lot of cartoons.
At the age of 18 Bill was introduced to Andrew Wyeth and his artistic world changed forever.
“Looking at his paintings, particularly his watercolors, changed my life: I knew that this was what I wanted to do. 50 years later and I’m still practicing!”
Bill grew up in the Miller section of Gary, Indiana, in a house that sat atop a sand dune. His love for those Lake Michigan dunes and beaches is a predominant subject in his watercolors. Paint
what you know and all that!
He has been in a lot of art shows, won awards, and had work published professionally. Bill’s
“philosophy” is to ‘’do what you love, because you love it. It’s such an intimate and extremely
personal form of expression, the passion that comes from making art.”
Bill studied at The Chicago Academy of Fine Art and has taught watercolor painting, drawing and cartooning at the Michigan City Art League, the Lubeznik Center for the Arts and the Learning Center for Arcelor-Mittal (now Cleveland Cliffs) Steel Mill.
The public is invited to view the artwork during regular Legacy Center hours, 6 am to 8 pm
CST Monday to Thursday, 6 am to 6 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 6 am to 3 pm on
Sundays. The building is located at 1719 E. Barker Ave. in Michigan City, and visitors should
enter through the doors off Esther Street.
A special “Meet the Artist” reception will happen Sunday, July 7th from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. The artwork will be displayed from July through the end of September 2024.
