JUL-2

July 2nd, 2026

I’m starting this month-long watercolor project off pretty easy with some old favorite scenes. The muscle memory is coming back just fine and I hope to be moving on to a bit more difficult pieces, just to challenge myself. I have several larger watercolor projects that I’ve neglected for awhile and I hope to get back to them as well.

This one has a little more drama, with the twilight depiction. I’m keeping these first few paintings loose and washy while I gear up for added detail and the etcetera that goes with that.

Winsor & Newton, Arches 140 and a variety of brushes did the trick on this 6.75″ x 10.5″ piece. I scraped a few blades of grass with a pocketknife blade (a Sears Craftsman #95024 jack knife, that I’ve had for nearly 50 years. I’m told it is rather collectible, for all you pocketknife mavens out there.)

Keep cool – it’s nasty out there!
