JUL-13

July 13th, 2026

This scene, taken from a photo I took, is one I’ve done several times. And every time I’ve painted this one, I really like the way it turned out. Just something about it, I guess.

It ended up being a mixed media. I drew the entire barn in pencil, then washed on color and while still wet, I poked around with a water-soluble graphite pencil. This allowed for the w.s. part to mix with the water of the wash and create some interesting effects.

Going against my usual procedure, I painted 90% of this in one go. The remaining part was just some tightening up with pencil lines – bingo bango bongo!

Winsor & Newton Watercolours and Arches 140# cold press paper served me well on this 6.5″ x 9.75″ piece.

And peace and love to you all! (Thanks, Ringo!
