A lot of Pandemic Painting #96 was accomplished late last night as my body was all wonky from the time change. Sometimes I paint okay after 11 pm.
This scene is yet another from a favorite place in Miller, in Marquette Park near the pop stand as you enter the park from the east. I’ve done a number of paintings of this spot, this time elongating the dunes and scratching in the grass.
I say “scratching” because I dry brushed a lot of the grass with a stiff bristled brush, experimenting with the technique.
One of the more fascinating things about watercolor (for me, at least – and I’m the only one who matters in this instance) is the ongoing experimenting that one can do. While not inventing any “new” techniques, it’s always fun to rediscover old ones.
7.5″ x 13.5″ (done on a scrap of 300# Arches hot press) and my Winsor & Newton watercolours served me well here.
