Pandemic Painting #116

Spending this past week watching it snow and blow a lot kept me indoors and helped produce Pandemic Painting #116.

This one was inspired by a photo from Pamela Bailey, showing the beautiful yet deadly ice crust that forms each winter on the shores of Lake Michigan. There are often gaps of water within the ice flow and you can only imagine how cold that water is.

This particular painting was done with a 3-color palette: French ultramarine blue. burnt sienna and yellow ochre. This makes for some interesting color combinations and works pretty well here. I think I’ll try a limited palette some more.

Winsor & Newton supplied the watercolour, Arches 140# hot press was the paper and 10.25″ x 13.25″ is the size.

Stay warm and safe, y’all. Things will get better
